Orientation to the Community Access Center

One session
FREE

Take your first step into the exciting worlds of television and radio at the Access Center’s free Orientation. You’ll get a look into the high-tech yet very accessible worlds of community radio and community television. It's here that you can determine which path you'd like to take - audio, visual or both.
Basic Radio

One session
$15

You have an idea for a radio show. Find out what steps are needed to get approval to air it, as well as what equipment and software is available to you for production. Learn how fun and easy it is to use Garage Band and i-Tunes.
Pre-Production Techniques

One session
$15

You’ve got the great idea for a program. But how do you get that idea from your head to the screen? Planning, planning, planning! Pre-production planning will get you started and help take the nervousness out of your production. As you learn the language of television, you’ll turn your idea into a script and plan your shoot with treatments, storyboards, and other planning tools. A must-take class for both new and veteran producers, this workshop is required before you are fully certified in Main Studio Production or Final Cut HD non-linear editing.
Production Aesthetics

One session
$15

You already have the basics down and can put together a competent looking show. Now you want to set your show apart from others by sprucing it up to avoid that "generic" feel. This workshop will share ideas and techniques for improving both remote and studio productions.
Mini-DV Camcorder Production

One session
$15

In this workshop you’ll learn about the specifics of using CAC’s digital cameras and about using tripods, shot composition, and a little about location lighting and location audio.
Tape-to-tape Editing

Two sessions
$30

Video shot on location is rarely ready to play “as-is.” Sometimes all a program needs are titles at the beginning and credits at the end. Other times more extensive editing is required to take things out or maybe add something new. These and other changes are done in post-production editing. In this two-evening workshop, you’ll learn to take your video footage, and by editing it from one tape to another, turn it into a finished, complete program.
i-Movie

Two sessions
$30
Prerequisite: Mini-DV Camcorder Production or bringing your own FIREWIRE compatible camcorder to the workshop.

With a DV camcorder and the iBook you can record directly to the computer’s hard drive. Then, using the editing capabilities of iMovie, you can add opening titles, end credits and make simple edits. Print the completed program to tape and your show is done.
i-DVD Workshop

One session
$15

You've edited your movie on the i-Movie laptop. Now you want to make DVD copies for friends and family (as well as for CAC playback). Learn how to use i-DVD software found on the laptops to burn top-notch DVD's.
